Ms. Reid's information for October 12-16
The students have learned several new jingles and will be tested on those next week. Please have them study the jingles each night. We held off on helping verbs this past week in order to review the concepts that were taught prior to our little ‘vacation’ from school, so we will add those in next week. Please continue to encourage your son/daughter to come to me for help since we are building the foundations for our grammar study at this time. If they don’t get the concepts now, they will struggle for the remainder of the year!
We will have our first Cool Word test on Wednesday. They have the first nine words now and will receive the tenth word on Tuesday. They can and should be studying their words each night as they receive them as opposed to waiting until the night before the test.
We will continue to explore the basic elements of literature while also while reading The Rumpelstiltskin Problem. We will use the whole class model for exploring the next chapter. As we complete this chapter we will look at how Characterization is used within stories as a support to plot development.
