Monday: 4.1 Add and Subtract Decimals (PW17)
Tuesday: 4.2 Multiply Decimals (PW18)
Wednesday: 4.3-4 Divide Decimals by Whole Numbers (PW19)
Thursday: 4.5 Divide Decimals by Decimals (PW20)
Friday: 4.6 Problem Solving: Interpret the Remainder (PW21 – in class)

The chapter 3 test your child took today will be returned to him/her on Monday. It should be signed and returned to school on Tuesday, October 13. Your child has a chance to earn back half of the points lost on the exam by making corrections that show he or she understands how to correctly solve incorrect problems.

Look for this week’s 3.1 -3.2 quiz and facts test in your child’s stuff folder. Please visit the math blog at http://pinaresmath.blogspot.com for extra practice on math concepts and additional information on material we cover in class.

It was a pleasure to meet and visit with many of you at our open house Friday afternoon. We’re looking forward to a great year in sixth grade!

The beginning of the week (Aug. 31-Sept. 4) will bring an end to our chapter one review. We will have our chapter one math test on Tuesday, September 1. On Wednesday we will dive into chapter two and our introduction to basic algebra.

Wednesday: 2.1 Algebra: Expression (PW6)
Thursday: 2.2 Algebra: Mental Math and Equations (PW7)
Friday: No Homework – use blog resources to study

You child should have shown you a five question quiz from last Wednesday and be keeping you up to speed with his/her performance on assignments he/she completes in the math workbook. The “Practice Workbook” - “PW” will be a catalogue of the majority of student homework for the year.

Math next week (Aug. 24-28) will be a variety of review materials involving basic operations and place value. Check out the link on our blog for "Place Value Puzzler" to help polish these skills.
Please encourage your child to practice math facts this week and make sure they have achieved mastery for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Use the “Math Magician” link on our blog for easy online practice.
